What is lip filler?
Lip fillers, also known as lip augmentation, enhance your lips to give more volume, shape and definition. This can reduce the appearance of fine lines, give you fuller lips and a younger appearance.
The lip filler we use is dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid (HA), a natural product found in your body. Our preferred and most popular fillers are Revolax and Juvederm.
Hyaluronic acid gives our skin the elasticity and plumpness that gives our skin a youthful appearance. The fillers we use are produced as a gel and do not contain animal or human products which means they are very safe to use and break down naturally over time.
What is the procedure?
Firstly we apply a strong numbing cream to numb the lips. The lip area can be sensitive for some people and we want you to feel comfortable throughout the procedure. The fillers are then injected and massaged to enhance the shape and size of the lips.
How long do the fillers last?
Your newly plump lips will normally last between 12-18 months. Although each person is different, some will find it doesn't last the full 12 months. This can be caused by smoking, fast metabolism, or regular exercise.
Are there any side effects?
If you suffer from cold sores, we recommend taking a prescription medicine to help prevent an outbreak.
Swelling is a common side effect which might last anything from 2-14 days. Bruising may occur from the treatment, and it may be slightly tender to touch or feel itchy. However, the discomfort should only last a few days.
